Magallanes: next world leader in green energy

Privileged Environment. In a unique environment in the world, la Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena (Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica), has an enormous potential of wind energy of 120 GW, and also, a vast network of fjords and canals, besides the Estrecho de Magallanes (Strait of Magellan); creating a highly favorable scenario for the development of the tidal energy.

Leading edge. One of Chile’s objectives is to become a carbon neutral country by 2050, and to be known as the world’s energy laboratory of the future. To achieve this, the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region will play a fundamental role, reaching carbon neutrality by 2030 and becoming the most important source of development in NCRE, and in particular, wind and tidal energy.

Projection. Due to the great wind energy potential, and to one of the largest estimated plant developers in the world, a potential of 160 Mton per year of Green Hydrogen production is projected, making the Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena (Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica), the most competitive producer in the world and global leader of green hydrogen by electrolysis by 2030.

Install your new project in the Región de Magallanes and the Antártica Chilena (Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica), taking advantage of our favorable conditions for:

• Joining the production of renewable energy transport vectors, such as liquid hydrogen, green ammonia, methanol and/or synthetic fuels, for export, at competitive prices.

• Taking advantage of the regional human capital, with expertise in the fuel industry for more than 50 years.

• Using the existing infrastructure of ports, platforms and network of fuel transportation systems, which reduces investment costs and time in the implementation of projects.

• The developing of tidal technology, in the waters of the mares magallánicos (Magellan seas).
