Connectivity, infrastructure, and logistics
Which has built the region towards an integrated and sustainable productive development
Passenger and cargo transportation:
By itinerary, there is at least one weekly container ship coming from the great ports of the country’s central zone (Valparaiso and San Antonio). Meanwhile, in Puerto Natales, the cargo ship that connects this city with Puerto Montt, 1,000 kms. north, arrives twice a week.

Additionally, there is a network of airports and airfields throughout the region, including Puerto Natales Airport, with direct flights from the country’s capital.
Land access for cargo and passengers remains open all year round through the border crossings with Argentina.
72,250 passengers landed in the region from national and international cruise ships.
Banking and Financial Services:
Punta Arenas, the regional capital, is home to most of the banking and financial services operating in Chile. Among them are: Banco Estado, Banco de Chile, Banco Santander, Banco Itau, Banco BCI and Corpbanca. Banco de Chile and Santander stand out in this list, as they are financial institutions with international presence.
Also, the offices of the main insurance companies operating in the country are located here.
All the public services are located in Región de Magallanes y Antártica Chilena (Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica), mainly in its capital Punta Arenas, where all the procedures for the authorization and operation of companies can be carried out.
In the Region, there is a wide investment and public works execution plan with regional and central government budgets; mainly on connectivity works, road and airport networks.
